In the UK it is surprisingly simple to change your name by Deed Poll or Statutory Declaration. Both of these methods involve obtaining a legally binding document that is then either witnessed in the case of a Deed Poll name change or sworn in front of a qualified person such as a solicitor in the case of a Statutory Declaration name change.
If you are over 18 you can change your name simply by using the online form to generate the required document. If you are the parent of a child and you wish to change their name, the process is very similar, although the name change document will also require a few details about you.
