Over the last week we have been working on an image upload system for one of our website clients. The system is for a women's clothing website with a system to include all of the current stock of clothing, dresses, trousers, overcoats etc, each on an individual web page.
Once a new clothing item is uploaded and included on the website the shop owner can then add an image of the clothing item.
The image upload system is a simple HTML file upload, but also uses the built in PHP image processing to make some changes to the size of the image. Each image is resized down to a usefull size for the individual web page, but is also turned in to a thumbnail of the large image and a medium sized image for a pop up when the thumbnail images are moused over.
As an extra way of increasing the new content aspect of the website the homepage shows the last four thumbnail images that have been uploaded to the site.
